THIS MAY BE THE MOST IMPORTANT PAGE ON THE WEBSITE. WHY?
Well, when choosing any company for any service, knowing the company’s work ethic is so important.
This page is where we express, for your consideration, our commitment to excellence held by this Arthur Murray Dance School — “THE BEST”: Sherman Oaks.
First of all, we’re very proud to celebrate our 62nd anniversary located on Van Nuys Boulevard (we are conveniently situated just off the 101 freeway near the 405 junction) as we also celebrate Arthur Murray’s 100th Anniversary in 2012 — a century teaching the world to dance.
Arthur Murray Sherman Oaks has been here providing THE BEST instruction to solo students and couples in BALLROOM DANCING, LATIN DANCING, SWING and WEDDING PREPARATION for a longer period of time than any other LA based school. [Dance demos on YOUTUBE.]
Until his recent passing in 2011, Studio Manager MARIO VITUCCI had been teaching students and overseeing the school since 1963. The present managers, hand-picked and trained by the late Mr. Vitucci, have a combined tenure of 24 years in Sherman Oaks (even more years with Arthur Murray, the parent company) and are committed to carrying on Mr. Vitucci’s world-famous commitment to the finest service in dance instruction. Currently under the leadership of Mr. MARTIN BARTHOLD [watch his Haitian dance tribute on 'DANCING WITH THE STARS'] the staff is committed to bringing the very very BEST of themselves to their students each and every day.
The Sherman Oaks studio has consistently been rated among THE BEST top 10 schools in the worldwide ARTHUR MURRAY FRANCHISE ORGANIZATION. Many times we have reached the highest rank to proudly become, officially, THE BEST school in LA. (This distinction is based on size of school – i.e. number of students – which we feel represents the highest of marks for the consideration of any prospective student: TESTIMONIALS of other elated students.)
As an Arthur Murray Franchise, the Sherman Oaks Dance School’s staff has, combined, more than a century of experience in teaching ballroom dance. At our studio, whether studying solo or with a partner, students can expect the finest in ballroom instruction as all of our instructors are carefully selected and thoroughly trained in the EXCLUSIVE ARTHUR MURRAY TEACHING METHOD whose standards are well known as the highest in the field of ballroom dance instruction.
Each student has at least one personal dance instructor who is responsible for their progress and keeps them on track. Often, exchange lessons with other instructors play an important role, because at Arthur Murray Sherman Oaks, students enjoy not only the support of their instructor but the support of the entire staff. Whether it is to become socially confident, or to become that star performer, we are prepared to make real YOUR goals. Furthermore, achieving one’s dance goals is GUARANTEED. We ensure this by meeting periodically “after class” to verify that we’re working with students in the most efficient manner possible. The management staff and the teachers are responsible for these “check-ins” which, to our students, are consistently cited as being a service that truly sets us apart. Every lesson is subject to the student’s satisfaction guarantee. If, once in a blue moon, a staff member was ever to deliver a less-than-Arthur-Murray’s-standards lesson, we would welcome the student’s feedback and proper steps would always be taken to amend the occurrence.
We take pride in the fact that our full-time staff (larger than any local-area school) is required to attend 11 vigorous training sessions each week (more than two per day) wherein their dancing, teaching and communication skills are consistently refined to better serve students.
Students are provided with written lesson records. All lessons (except, of course, the first one) are thoroughly and meticulously planned in advance — sometimes with the input of two or three different staff members. We often use video notes for visually-oriented folks. Group class curriculum is monitored closely so that students are always ensured progress in class. No student is placed in the embarrassing position of attending too-difficult a class, at the same time, no student who is ready and feeling progress, is ever held back.
Our regular practice sessions are not open to the public so that we can ensure the staff’s ability to circulate and address all students in attendance with regard to practicing properly and effectively. This makes sure no bad habits are developed that would set back the learning curve. (We do welcome guests of students with prior notice.) We welcome drop-in folks to observe.
By now you may be saying: “All this for learning to dance?!” To that, we proudly say, “YES!! You (the student) deserve nothing less.” It is true though that, for some, much of what we do may never have been necessary for their happiness in taking dance lessons. For many more though, these commitments are WHY students tell us they’re here, why they’ve stayed, maybe even why they’ve left and returned.
Many establishments might purport to provide the same. We always say, let us prove we’re the BEST. Visit us, talk with us, dance with us. We’ll show you our quality. Only Arthur Murray is Arthur Murray: often imitated, never duplicated.
This page is our heart and our passion. Thank you for reading it!
