Van Nuys turns 100 (shortly before Arthur Murray's own Centennial)
Monday, August 1, 2011
Van Nuys turns 100Hey folks! The city we're in/neighbors with is celebrating 100 years! Arthur Murray Sherman Oaks is participating with dancing and its celebratory spirit!
On of our very own students has done a wonderful job orchestrating the arrangments for a gala celebration right up the street from the studio at the classic Van Nuys courtyard in front of the Civic Center, the classic building pictured in this blog. We're very happy to be contributing dance performances and vignettes to the festivities at this event and we are inviting our entire student body to join us.
The Centennial Celebration mentions for you to be "prepared to have your taste buds, and a time-past, awakened as the Mid-Valley Community Police Council, CPAB, and local business owners team up as part of the city's Centennial to bring you the 100-Year Celebration of Van Nuys, 'The Town That Was Started Right.'
"This monumental occasion will be taking place Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm at the Van Nuys Civic Center. Come be part of the community as we celebrate all the things that make Van Nuys so reat and get to know your neighbors as you fill up on great food, classic cars, dancing, music, games and memories of the past. Van Nuys has such a rich history, be a part of ringing in the next 100 years!"

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited about this event. I'm psyched about the dancing but I'm really interested in the classic cars that I understand will be featured. As I've been told, in the 50s and 60s, folks would "cruise" up and down Van Nuys Blvd. and there was a Bob's Big Boy (near where Corky's is now, I guess) where they used to congregate as a "Car Hop." Very cool.
Thank you so much to Jean, Martin, Dani and Josh from the staff and Goldie, Pam K, Jean, April and her family, Marina K, Marina Y, Karine, Mario, Greg, Les and Roberta for coming, helping to "man the booth", do dance demonstrations, answer questions from "walkers-by," etc. It was so much fun hanging with all of you!
Love, Tom
A car key programmer is a tool that can be used to recode the transponder in a mechanical key or key fob. Some modern automobiles have specially Obd2 scan tools coded transponders in their keys and will not start or run if the proper signal is not received. In some cases a new key can be programmed without any special equipment, though many vehicles require BMW Gt1 a device referred to as a key programmer. A key programmer may be a standalone unit, though they are sometimes integrated into complex scan tools. Key programmers typically bidirectionally interface with the on-board diagnostics II (OBD-II) connector.
