Join Arthur Murray Dance StudioHello all! We’re continuing our week-long celebration of Arthur Murray Dance Studio’s Centennial tonight, Friday, April 6, 2012 at our co-sponsored event ‘Dancing Under the Stars‘ at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.
We started off April 1st (no fooling!) at the Long Beach Hilton with our fantastic Centennial Bash featuring student presentations of the Charleston, the Lindy Hop, the Mambo and the Hustle.
Congratulations to our Top Finalists students Paula Ely, Cesar Rueda, Mario Uribe and Roberta Lazar. Paula Ely won 1st Place in Charleston. Teachers Michele Melendez and Erick Padilla won 1st Place in the Professional Salsa Competition.
We continued at the studio on Wednesday, April 4th on Arthur Murray (the man’s) actual birthday. 117 years ago on April 4, 1895, Arthur Murray was born Moses Teichmann in Austria-Hungary. At 17 he began teaching dancing and perfecting the teaching method that still today, 100 years later, bears his name and his taught the world to dance.
At our party, we danced and were merry and we all sang “Happy Birthday” to Arthur Murray (the man and the school) and enjoyed our special arrangement of vintage Arthur Murray memorabilia courtesy of student Dave Wright.
See scheduleTonight, we round out our week-long celebration at the Sherman Oaks Galleria located at Ventura Blvd and Sepulveda Blvd for ‘Dancing Under the Stars’ at 8:45.
